OMBA Alumni Programing & Initiatives

Questrom Speaker Series

The OMBA Team is proud to present the Questrom Speaker Series! This initiative has been designed to bring all members of the OMBA and Questrom Community together to discuss and explore a variety of topics and interests in a webinar-style approach. This is a networking-based series that introduces members of the OMBA community to students and alumni from Questrom, experts from a range of different industries, and new connections for professional networks! OMBA Alumni Newsletter

The alumni newsletter is an initiative curated by the Success Team to continue to foster connections within our program even after students have earned their MBA. This triannual newsletter, sent once per semester (typically in February, June, and October), will share program and university updates, as well as offer opportunities for you to continue to engage with your OMBA peers. Graduates should check their BU Email for the latest edition of the alumni newsletter.

Alumni Yellowdig Community

We have always recognized the need to provide a means for our OMBA alumni to stay connected and more importantly, keep the conversations and relationships active after graduation. To do that, we have created an OMBA Alumni Community in Yellowdig. We chose Yellowdig since it is a tool that you know how to use and to create connections and content, and it provides a conversational approach that other tools such as LinkedIn do not. The use case of YD for the alumni community will be difference since there will be no point requirements, but rather should be tied to what is important to you and all your other alumni colleagues as working business professionals.

The invitation link for access to the Alumni community is sent to all graduates’ BU email accounts within the month of their official graduation date.

Those who have already activated their account within the Alumni Yellowdig community can follow this link to access conversations.

The Yellowdig mobile app brings the collaborative experience of Yellowdig’s platform to your mobile device. The BU Alumni Directory is a secure, password-protected resource that contains the names, college details, and contact information of all alumni who earned a degree at BU.

Access to OMBA Resources

Blackboard – Alumni will retain full access to course materials available on Blackboard for five (5) years after taking their specific course.* We welcome and encourage students to save materials from Blackboard to their computer’s hard drive that they would like to have permanent access to. Please be advised that some resources (course videos, lectures, etc.) are ineligible for download as those materials are copyrighted intellectual property of Boston University.

*Please be advised alumni will only be able to access Blackboard using the direct link – learn.bu.edu. Alumni do not retain access to OMBA Link due to Salesforce licensing agreements and will be unable to log in to the platform to navigate to Blackboard from there.

OMBA Resources for Alumni – OMBA Alumni can visit this webpage for access to resources such as resume and cover letter guides and templates, as well as tools and resources for career-related ventures, and Success Team event recordings to revisit topics of interest. Please note: this page is password protected to ensure access is restricted to members of the OMBA Alumni Community only. Questions should be directed to ombaalum@bu.edu.

Access to Career Resources

BU Connects – A platform designed exclusively for BU faculty, staff, students, and alumni – BU Connects brings terriers together for professional networking on a global scale. Members of the community will have access to a directory that can be filtered by industry and/or location, affinity groups, mentoring opportunities, and even job boards for those looking for new roles. Handshake – BU’s on-line hub for career resources used by all Questrom students to make/manage appointments, view job and internship postings, workshops, and more. Students can access Questrom specific opportunities/events and all other BU career development offerings as well. Click here to access Handshake.

Career Webinars – The Alumni Association offers a webinar series, where you can hear from alumni career coaches and industry insiders who offer concrete strategies and compelling insights to sharpen your skills and continue your professional growth. Alumni Association Career/Networking Events – The Boston University Alumni Association hosts a variety of in-person events all around the world as well as online meetings. Click here to see the Alumni Association’s event calendar.

Access to University-wide Resources

BU Email – All Boston University students will automatically have on-going access to their BU email hosted through Google Accounts. Students have the option to set up a forwarding service to send new incoming messages to your preferred external account. For more information and instructions to configure the forwarding services, please click here.

BU Libraries – BU Libraries welcomes all graduates to visit the libraries and make use of a selection of electronic resources using their BU username and password. Alumni will not have access to all resources available to current students due to vendor licensing agreements, but will continue to have access to select features within the university library system. For more information and a list of the electronic resources alumni are eligible to access, please click here.

Continued Education – There are many ways in which alumni can continue to expand their education with Boston University. If you are interested in pursuing new or additional courses with BU, please click here to take a look at some programs offered at a discounted rate for alumni. (Please note: these courses are largely on campus and do not have an online option.)

OMBA Alumni Leadership Council
